Fancy French word to say that the olives are changing color. Turning from green to yellow green to purple, and eventually black.
It is a magical time in the orchard where the olives become more and more visible.

I had never seen this before. A natural hive against the side of an oak tree. The bees are doing fine - may be they got attracted by a crack in the bark (see on top of the picture below). Supposedly bees like a 1/4 inch slit opening to their hive to settle there.
<![CDATA[more owl news]]>Tue, 07 Feb 2017 04:52:30 GMThttp://cloud9orchard.com/blog/more-owl-news
A little bit late this year cleaning the owl boxes... when I open the front pane I peaked and I quickly closed it back, and just brought my camera in to take a quick picture, and then leave this scared owl couple alone.
It's nice to see the boxes fully used, the owls are our best rodent control system. And we are looking forward more owlets.
Just the cleaning of this box will have to wait!

An Olive Oil Compound That Makes Your Throat Itch May Prevent Alzheimer's

Doctors and nutritionists have long associated the Mediterranean diet with human health benefits, including a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease. A recent study of 1,880 elderly people living in New York City, for example, showed that those who strongly adhered to a Mediterranean diet over the study's 14-year span had a 32 to 40 percent lower incidence of Alzheimer's compared with those who did not.
